It's here finally! A Kwanzaa Village that gives your family a decorative piece to display in your home, as you celebrate culture, community and heritage. Kwanzaa, originating from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza" means "first fruits of the harvest", was established in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Kerenga. Rooted in African traditions, Kwanzaa is a seven-day observance, starting on December 26th and ending on January 1st. Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, rather it is a cultural holiday that honors African Americans, and it gives us the opportunity to stop and remember the past as we work together for the future. The Kwanzaa Village and Figurines represents the central principles that connect to our identity and collective experience.
At the core of Kwanzaa are the Nguzo Saba, seven guiding principles: Unity (Umoja), Self-Determination (Kujichagulia), Collective Work (Ujima), Cooperative Economics (Ujamaa), Purpose (Nia), Creativity (Kuuma) and Faith (Imani).
The Kwanzaa Village and Figurines serves as a collection of visual symbols, perfect for display on a tabletop or fireplace mantle. Additionally, it's an invaluable resource for educators, as a teaching aid and a timeless addition to your year-round home decor.

Message from Natasha: "Habari gani", that's the greeting many people ask on each day of Kwanzaa that means, "What's the news". Well, the exciting news is that I have finally created a Kwanzaa Village, along with figurines and accessories, and it has been a labor of love. I'm such a visual person and I wanted to create pieces that embodied everything that Kwanzaa represents, commemorating learning, family and celebration. When I see a lack of representation, I do as much as I can to bring that diversity to traditional creations that typically do not reflect cultural representation.
