I am so excited to introduce Male and Female, Kwanzaa Celebration Figurines that are perfect heirlooms for the annual joyous celebration of Kwanzaa. The Figurines visually represents Kwanzaa, as they depict unity and symbolize the principles that are reflective to reinforcing concepts of African Culture. These one of a kind Kwanzaa Figurines help keep the spirit of Zawadi (Gifts) alive, because they encourage and promote purpose and creativity. Also available is a handcrafted Carved Wood Kinara Candleholder with candles, that will complete your Kwanzaa Celebration. (Optional Kinara Sold OUT).
Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26th to January 1st and during the weeklong Holiday, the principles are honored through Storytelling, Singing, Dancing, African Drums, Sharing Food and a Candle-Lighting Ceremony. The Holiday focuses on seven principles (Nguzo Saba) of African Heritage, which includes:
Umoja: (Unity)
Kujichagulia: (Self-Determination)
Ujima: (Collective Work)
Ujamaa: (Cooperative Economics)
Nia: (Purpose)
Kuumba: (Creativity) and
Imani: (Faith)
Now let me tell you about the Kwanzaa Male & Female Figurines – sold together as a couple, and the Optional Carved Wood Kinara: (Sorry Carved Wood Kinara SOLD OUT).
• Male & Female Figurines are hand-crafted 14 ½ Inch porcelain heads, hands and posable arms, attached to a sturdy open bottom cone.
• The Male Figurine is dressed in a long Dashiki style red garment, that is layered in a faux leather studded collar with red, green and black trim. The grommet belted trim has attached Kwanzaa printed fabric (Mkeka - to express culture & tradition). Draped around his shoulder and waist is a handcrafted Djembe Drum with colorful beads, that brings the Rhythm of Africa to Life. He also holds a Crown Tip Walking Cane. His head is crowned with a matching Kufi style hat.
• The Female Figurine's skirt is made of Kwanzaa theme fabric (Mkeka). Her long sleeve pleated caplet has black trim with attached ribbon bow with flower, and tied around her waist is a grommet design belt trim. She wears gold earrings and a beaded necklace. Her head adorns a studded floral headpiece. To showcase symbols of Kwanzaa, she holds a rattan basket lined in African print fabric, filled with tray of fruits (Symbolizing Mazao, first fruits of the Harvest) [Note: Fruit is securely glued onto silver tray and may be replaced with similar tray of fruit or vegetables, depending on inventory], a Mat, Unity Cup (Kikombe Cha Umaja - drink for Blessings) and a handmade Kinara with candles. The seven candles (3 Red, 1 Black & 3 Green) are lit every day of the cultural holiday to show appreciation for the guiding principles.
